By Road
To reach Altea by road you can use the AP-7, the
toll motorway, junction 64, or use the V-31 Alicante-Valencia,
which is the national route that runs along the entire coast from
north to south.
Altea also has good bus connections. There are
a number of national and international companies that link this
part of the Costa Blanca to various Spanish cities, such as Madrid
and Barcelona, and European countries, like Germany, Belgium,
the Netherlands, etc. The nearest bus stations are in Benidorm
and Calpe. In addition, there are various companies with daily
Alicante-Valencia routes, with departures every 30 minutes and
stops in towns along the way.
By Train
The closest train stations to Altea are in Alicante,
58 km away, and in Valencia, at 133 km. Both have frequent daily
links to Madrid and Barcelona.
The narrow-gauge Alicante-Denia railway has a stop
in Altea and in all towns and villages in the area.
The so-called Lemon Express tourist train also stops in Altea.
This train makes a slow trip around the most picturesque areas
of the Costa Blanca, offering travellers a complete service that
even includes a bottle of champagne and other tokens of appreciation.
By Airplane
Altea is close to international airports: El Altet
in Alicante, at 61 km., and the Valencia airport at 139 km. Both
have direct daily connections to major Spanish and European cities.
By Boat
The closest international seaports are at Barcelona,
481 km away, where numerous cruisers have stopovers, at Alicante
and at Valencia, which has a connection to the Balearics. 41 km
away is the seaport of Denia, which provides connections to Palma
de Majorca, and to Ibiza.
